Hi, everyone! My name is Sharon, and welcome to Pet Wellness Authority! Making sure that our animals get everything they need has been important to me my whole life, from owning pets since I was young to being a professional dog walker and pet sitter as an adult.
I believe that anyone who takes an animal into their home and makes it dependent on them for survival has a responsibility to ensure that it’s comfortable and well-cared for. Some parts of that responsibility are obvious – good food, for one – while some parts aren’t so obvious, like how to keep them mentally stimulated when they’re alone at home.
Over the years, as both a pet owner and someone who cares for other people’s pets, I’ve learned a lot about the things, big and small, that we can do to improve their daily lives. I’ve taken animal health care courses, researched nutrition and exercise, socialization and modern products, and I’ve seen the home lives of hundreds of different animals. Now I want to give back and share what I’ve gathered.
My Adventures With Animals
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I knew that I loved animals and I wanted to help them, and I was sure that medicine was the best way to do that. Well, certainly it’s very important! But, unfortunately, after a high school internship with an animal hospital, I learned that medical tools and procedures are not for me.
Instead, my favorite part of the job was always giving the animals at the hospital personal time and attention, from getting the dogs outside for fresh air to calming the cats who were not happy to be away from home.
A few years later, I found my way back to animals by becoming a dog walker and pet sitter. It was the perfect job for me – my clients are always happy to see me! And I learned another side of animal wellness that starts in the home, with consideration for how pets live their daily lives.
I gained many loyal clients with my attention to detail for each animal, from a barrel-chested chihuahua who needed raised bowls to eat more carefully, to an old retriever who walked slowly only because his claws were so long that his toes twisted with each step!
Not everyone has had the same experiences that allow me to hone in on such fine details about even their own pets, and it can be difficult to figure out which products and services out there are really the best for your pet when they all claim to be exactly what you need.
This is why I decided to start Pet Wellness Authority. Every experience I’ve had with pet care throughout my life has been rewarding and eye-opening, and I decided that it’s time to bring together the truly great resources for pet wellness into one place, where every pet owner can find what will truly work for them and their animals.
So please, have a look around. If you have anything to share in respect to your own experiences with pets, I would love to hear it!
Wishing you nothing but purrs and wagging tails,
